I have often been asked: what are you ready to do to cease fire? A strange question. What are you, Ukrainians, ready to do for the sake of the lives of your loved ones? For what? I can assure you: I am ready to do anything to ensure that our heroes do not die anymore. I am certainly not afraid to make difficult decisions, I am ready to lose my popularity, my ratings. And if necessary, I am ready to lose my post without hesitation, just so that peace can come. Without losing our territories . Never.

History is unfair, that’s true. We didn’t start this war, we didn’t start it, but it’s up to us to end it. We’re ready for dialogue, but (switches to Russian language ) I ‘m sure that the first step to start this dialogue will become return all Ukrainian prisoners .

Our next challenge is to regain lost territories. Frankly, I think this formulation is not quite correct because​ impossible to lose what is already ours by right. Both Crimea and Donbass are Ukrainian land. Where we have lost not only territories, we have lost the most important thing – people (switches to Russian). We simply must – I am sure they hear us – return their consciousness . We lost their consciousness . For these years the government did n’t do it nothing to​ They felt myself Ukrainians . They are not strangers , they are ours, they are Ukrainians.

(Green is interrupted.) Excuse me. They understand Ukrainian. Yes, thank you. Thank you for continuing to divide people, Mr. Lyashko.

Because Ukrainian, I want to say, yes, we are all Ukrainians, wherever we live, because Ukrainian is not in the passport, Ukrainian is here (shows, putting his hand to his heart), it is in the heart. I know this for sure, I know it from the fighters defending Ukraine, our heroes, both Ukrainian-speaking and Russian-speaking . I want to address them now: There is no strong army where the government does not respect the people who give their lives for the country every day, and I will do everything so that you feel respect. This is decent, and most importantly, stable financial support. This is your housing conditions, legal vacations after completing combat missions, rest for you and your families. We should not talk about NATO standards, but create them, create these standards.

Of course, besides the war, there are many other troubles that make Ukrainians unhappy. This shocking tariffs , humiliating salaries and pensions, painful prices, non-existent jobs. This is medicine, the improvement of which is spoken about mostly by those who have never been in a regular hospital with their child.

These are mythical Ukrainian roads, which are built and repaired only in someone’s wild imagination.

Let me now, let me now….(pause) how will you let me, thank you. Let me now quote one American actor who became a cool American president: “The government does not solve our problems, the government is our problem.” I… These are just quotes.

I don’t understand, frankly, I don’t understand our government, which only shrugs and says that we can’t do anything. It’s not true, you can. You can take a sheet of paper, take a pen and free up your seats for those who will think about the next generations, not about the next elections. I think people will appreciate it. Some selective applause, I speak on behalf of the people, please.

My election proves that citizens are tired of experienced, systemic, pompous politicians who have created a “country of opportunity” in 28 years. Opportunities kickbacks , flows , carve-ups . We will build a country of other opportunities, where everyone is equal before the law, where there are honest and transparent rules of the one for all , and for this to happen, people who will serve the people must come to power. I really want there to be no pictures of me in your offices (applause is heard…) please, no portraits of me, because the president is not an icon, not an idol. The president is not a portrait. Hang pictures of your children there, and look them in the eyes before every decision.

You know, I can say a lot more, but Ukrainians want not words, but actions, so dear deputies, (applause, laughter in the meeting hall…) you yourselves scheduled the inauguration for Monday, a working day.

I see a plus in this. This means that there will be no parties today, today we will work together, and therefore I ask you very much to pass a law on the abolition parliamentary inviolability ,

( encouraging applause … in the hall), the law on criminal liability for illegal enrichment, (long applause….) the long-suffering electoral code, (votes of support in the hall..) and please make open lists.

And I also ask you to dismiss the head of the Security Service of Ukraine, the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, and the Minister of Defense of Ukraine from their posts. And this is far from all that you can do, but it is enough for a start. You will have two months for this, you will have two months for this. Do this and hang medals on yourselves – not bad points for the early parliamentary elections. I am dissolving the Verkhovna Rada of the VIII convocation. Glory to Ukraine! (Long applause….) Let’s applaud. And thank you. That is, the consultations have already taken place, as I understand it? Good.. And finally – very briefly. Dear people, throughout my life I have tried to do everything to make Ukrainians smile. I felt this in my heart, it was not only my job, really, it was my mission. For the next five years, I will do everything, Ukrainians, so that you do not cry. Thank you!
